Apps that let you swipe to delete photos on iPhone
The iPhone’s Photos app has no swipe-to-delete mode. Swiping there only moves to the next photo, and you delete with the trash button. A swipe app shows one photo at a time: swipe left to delete, right to keep. They all delete through iOS, so iOS asks before anything goes and the photos wait 30 days in Recently Deleted. They differ on price and on what they do with your data.
Without an app
In Photos, tap Select and drag your finger across the thumbnails to pick many at once, then tap the trash button. That’s quick for a pile of screenshots, but no help when you want to decide photo by photo. Photos has no keep or delete pile and won’t remember how far you got.
What the best-known swipe apps cost
Swipewipe (MWM) is free to download, with in-app purchases from $3.99 a week to $29.99 a year. Under “Data Used to Track You”, its App Store privacy label lists identifiers, usage data and other data.
Slidebox (Slidebox LLC) costs $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year (no free trial), or there’s a one-time unlock. Its label lists no tracking. Under “Data Not Linked to You” it lists photos or videos, plus usage data for third-party advertising.
Prices and labels are from the US App Store, checked on 28 October 2026. They change, so look at the listing before you buy.
What to check before you pick one
- The price. A weekly subscription costs more in a year than most people expect. Some apps also let you swipe only a set number of photos for free.
- The privacy label at the bottom of the App Store page. “Data Used to Track You” means data is shared with other companies to follow you across apps.
- Whether photos leave the phone. Sorting by swiping doesn’t need the internet. If an app wants to upload your photos for “AI”, it’s asking for more than swiping needs.
- Recently Deleted. The space only comes back when you empty it, or after 30 days.
How swiping works in Rydop
Rydop goes through your camera roll one month at a time, newest first. Swipe left to delete and right to keep, or use the buttons. You can undo, a heart marks your favorites, and a tap opens the photo full screen or plays the video. What you swipe left isn’t deleted straight away. It collects in a pile, and a button shows how many photos and how much space, like “Delete 23 · 410 MB”. Tap it and iOS asks you to confirm. Rydop remembers how far you got in each month.
Rydop costs $1.99 once. There’s no subscription, no limit on swipes and no account, and nothing is uploaded. Its App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected”.
Rydop also finds similar shots, duplicates, old screenshots and big videos for you. See how to clean up photos on iPhone.
